Woke up to the smell of smoke at 4am yesterday. The air quality was the worst I’ve experienced so far. I left Tahoe as soon as the sun came up (the orange dot in the first photo is the sun). Hoping to go back to Tahoe one more time before I leave California this year but I will have to see – Lake Tahoe, California

I was avoiding this creek since the last bear encounter but it was time to try again. I’ve hiked this trail 2 days in a row and no bears have been spotted. However, a bear came to visit my camp this afternoon and it was a big one! – Lake Tahoe, California
