Smoke has arrived
Tamarack Fire is 20 miles south of Tahoe and has burnt 21k acres so far. There is also Beckwourth Complex which is 55 miles north and has burnt over 105k acres and still going! – Lake Tahoe, California
My scariest bear encounter so far
I ran into him on a trail. After a long (but probably only a few seconds of) staring contest and me making a lot of noise, he ran away. But then he stopped and kept staring at me from the other side of the creek. I kept looking back as I continued on hiking making sure he wasn’t following me. I forgot my bear spray that day. I also bought a bear bell since then so I won’t surprise a bear again. Lessons learned! – Lake Tahoe, California
